HAMMERFALL: Studio Update

Sweden's HAMMERFALL have entered the studio to begin recording the follow-up to 2005's "Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken", tentatively due in October via Nuclear Blast Records. Guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following recording update on his official blog:

"Computer malfunctions and other shit delayed the start an hour or two, but by eleven-thirty we were up and rolling with 'The Fire Burns Forever'. A pretty easy song, and it didn't take very long to nail it. Moved on to 'Howlin' With The 'Pac', which didn't take much longer. 'Natural High', on the other hand, took the rest of the day. The bass patterns has to lock in with the drums, and that took some doing. Part of it was because he's [bassist Magnus Rosén] new to playing with a pick, though, and I still think he's doing a much better job than I ever would have imagined. It also didn't help matters that I had forgotten to give Charlie [Bauerfeind, producer] the correct playback tracks at the beginning of the recording. You see, I had originally sent the others a longer version of the song but later decided to edit out about 30 seconds in the middle. The problem was, I had forgotten to create new playbacks, so Anders [Johansson, drums] had recorded the original version of the song. Do you follow me? My mistake led to some quick drum editing — thank god for ProTools! — and then I changed the guitars to go with the rhythm in the drums and we were home free. All that was left was to play it."

Other songtitles set to appear on HAMMERFALL's new CD include "Carved In Stone", "Titan", "Genocide", "Dark Wings, Dark Words", "Shadow Empire", "Rebel Inside" and "Threshold".
